Thank you to the St. Juliana Catholic School Class of 1976 and the Cardinal Newman Class of 1980 for their generous donation of $4601.00 to the Friends of St. Juliana Fund. If your SJS graduating class or your organization would like to make a group donation, please contact the school office at (561) 655-1922 for more information. Founded in 1952 by the Sisters of St. Joseph, St. Juliana Catholic School has been serving the community for over 50 years. Our central location, and easy access to major highways, makes our school an easy choice for families from all over Palm Beach County. We currently have the pleasure of serving a group of culturally diverse students. At St. Juliana, we offer an academically challenging curriculum, strongly rooted in faith and values, as we strive to encourage the maximum growth possible from each of our students. Our beautiful campus is located in a historic neighborhood setting. Despite our quaint appearance, we offer the peace of mind of a secure, gated campus. Our cafeteria, playgrounds, art, and music rooms have all been recently renovated, and we are also proud to offer a state-of-the-art science lab and a media center, complete with a computer lab. In addition to the computers in the lab, each of our classrooms also has additional computers, with internet access, and, in several rooms, such technological tools as projectors and document cameras are available. As a school community, we are dedicated to giving our students every advantage in an ever-changing world. Our certified teachers implement innovative instructional techniques in a traditional classroom setting. Coupling modern curriculum and rigorous standards, our school is accredited by the Florida Catholic Conference. In addition to accreditation reviews, we test student gains every year to determine the best direction for instruction and curriculum growth. In recent years, we have experienced real increases in our standardized test scores, with our 8th grade scoring in the top 10% nationwide on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills. In addition to our exacting academic standards, our faculty, administration, and parents are also committed to encouraging the growth of the whole student. Enrichment classes help students to bridge the gap between academics and real-world applications. Television Production, Safety Patrol, National Junior Honor Society, and National Junior Art Society are just some of the programs that allow St. Juliana students to transcend the traditional classroom experience, as well as truly take ownership of their school and education. As agreeable as our current situation is, our faculty and administration are constantly seeking ways to improve our school for the future. This year, we applied for the Blue Ribbon School of Excellence recognition, and hope for increases in enrollment in upcoming years. Academically, we plan on maintaining or improving our current performance and constantly strive for the most rigorous academic standards. As a school, we want to remain competitive in technology and teaching methods. In order to do so, professional growth experiences for our teachers are always at a high priority. The faculty and administration are persistently looking for even more ways to diversify our curriculum, and offer more advanced classes, in order to give our students an added edge in high school, and beyond. Most of all, we look forward to being able to preserve our goal of teaching leadership and citizenship within the framework of Catholic doctrine. The St. Juliana school community is an asset to the community at large. Throughout the year, there is a focus on charity and service projects in which students of all grade levels participate. These would include food and toy drives, Angel Tree donations, book drives, Pennies for Babies, and beach clean-up. Our students know the importance of giving to the less fortunate and, for our 8th graders, service hours are a requirement. In addition to charitable activities, our students also provide the community with several cultural opportunities each year. For example, the Hand Bell Choir and Singers have previously performed at such venues as City Place and the Kravis Center. In addition to the standard academic subjects, we also have the benefit of being able to teach our students morals and faith. For this reason, they are well-rounded, with a strong sense of civic responsibility. It is fair to say that one of our primary goals at St. Juliana is producing knowledgeable, compassionate students who have an understanding of the world around them. In the midst of the financial travails surrounding us, we are constantly reminded that our Catholic faith is built upon the strongest foundation, Jesus Christ. As our Church moves forward in proclaiming His goodness, we are challenged to faithfully secure the future of our Lord’s work. Friends of St. Juliana Catholic School is a fund we have established to help us to meet this challenge. St. Juliana Catholic School provides a sound faith and value-based learning environment for students from PK 3 through 8th grade. St. Juliana’s mission challenges each child to grow intellectually and spiritually and to attain a greater understanding of the Word of God in their lives and in the lives of those they touch. The fund provides Catholic students at St. Juliana Catholic School an opportunity to offset the tuition cost of an academic school year or a portion of the year. This fund is not a building fund or regular parish support. It is a fund which will assist a student whose family is struggling financially to continue their Catholic education at St. Juliana. Contributions can be made in a variety of ways. Donations of cash, property, securities, bequests, insurance and memorial gifts are all possible means to contribute to Friends of St. Juliana. The building blocks placed upon our foundation of faith are gifts from generous donors. Together with your prayers more students will be able to continue to learn and practice our Catholic faith and build upon Christ’s foundation.
